What Is.... "Catastrophe"?

Space. Deep in its confines, a great battle is taking place. Thousands of different species fighting against one another, as well as fighting against gigantic females. Deep below them, ten objects circle a planet, under threat from a black hole....Earth. And up above them, a gigantic creature watches intently. Who brought these beings together, and who will save our own world? Who caused the black hole to occur in the first place? To find out, we must turn the clock back to a few weeks ago....

And so begins "Catastrophe", a fanfic series on DeviantArt that is far more than just a massive crossover of various franchises. This is a topical, dramatic account of what would happen if the soothsayers were right about the end of the world being closer than we thought. It also looks at the fictional side of crossovers: WHY did the Flintstones meet the Jetsons? WHY did 'Super Smash Bros. Brawl' happen? IS FusionFall an amaglamation of Dimensions, or is it another world altogether? And if it's the latter, HOW did it come about?

"Catastrophe" is also the first saga of a series of numbered fanfictions, each one featuring a specific main villain who might or might not work with other villains to achieve his or her goals. It also adapts various plotlines to various franchises, such as incorporating the Sonic games into the Sonic Saturday morning series, or taking a closer look at the motivations of the Legendary Pokémon in the anime movies.

This blog serves as a guide and further information stand to the series, providing more background information on heroes, villains, worlds and other important topics. It will also provide previews for future chapters, as well as comments from me, the author of the fanfic. I have still a long way to go with "Catastrophe", and as always, comments are critical to the fanfic's future development. The chapters are currently housed on my DeviantArt account, which also contains chapters from the mini-series "Countdown to Catastrophe", which features specific worlds, times and characters, and serves as an anthology to the main story.
